What do I have to do to live my life to its Best potential?

You probably noticed that in life, there are two factors that are very important in having you live the life you want and expect.  The first is "your health situation."  The second is "your financial situation."  I have seen many people focus on their financial situation but do not pay as much attention to their health and wellness.  My office works with you to help you set and attain health goals.   I often state "If you don't take care of your health, it will leave you."

We all know that you can be financially secure; however, if you lose your health, you are very limited on what you can do with your life.  We, at Robie at Spring Garden Chiropractic, will help put credit in your "health bank."

What is Chiropractic?

The nervous system holds the key to the body's incredible potential to heal itself.  Look at something simple like a paper cut.  You don't have to do much, the body looks after the healing process.

Chiropractic is a health care discipline that emphasizes the inherent recuperative power of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.  The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.

Chiropractors are specifically trained to examine you for the presence of spinal misalignments called "vertebral subluxations."

Chiropractors recognize the value and responsibility of working in collaboration with other health care practitioners - we have the best interest of the patients in mind, as it is you, the patient, who deserves the best care possible.

I hear the word "subluxation" frequently.  What is it?

The Vertebral Subluxation Complex or "Subluxation" is a dysfunction of one of the bones in your spine (vertebrae).  This dysfunction compromises the normal functioning of your overall health and well-being.  Chiropractors are trained to identify the subluxation and remove the blockage - which allows the messages from the brain to be transmitted without interference.  Think of it as a rock blocking a water hose in a garden of flowers.  If the rock cuts off the water supply travelling through the hose, the flowers will eventually start to become frail and when that rock is removed and the water is once again flowing properly, the flowers once again begin to bloom and flourish.  Your body needs the messages from the brain in order to flourish.

What is Text Neck Syndrome?

Text neck syndrome is refers to stress injury from looking down at your mobile device for long periods of time.  Patients complain about frequent soreness in their neck and back, tightness across the shoulders and chronic head-aches.  The more you extend your head and neck out and down, the more weight your neck carries.

When your neck is at 0 degrees, the force is 10-12 lbs on your neck - this is considered normal.  If you extend your neck out and down at approximately 15 degrees, the force increases to approximately 27 lbs.  A 30 degree extension is approximately 40 lbs; 45 degree extension is approximately 49 lbs and a 60 degree extension is approximately 60 lbs of force.

Consider taking mini breaks from your mobile device.  If you would like more information about text neck or if you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, call our office for either a consultation or an appointment.
